Die Skooltjie
The Skooltjie is a converted little school, with its two classrooms now used as bedrooms. There are no beds, only mattresses, each made up with a duvet or quilt and pillows with pillowcases. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas stove and oven and a small 12-volt fridge, and the lights are 12-volt, powered by solar. Inside the school are one shower and two toilets, and there are also two outdoor showers, with hot water from a wood-fired “donkie.” There is an outdoor braai as well.
